CREM Ltd was contracted to set up a laterally integrated business within the Maine Group of Companies to deliver Chemical Surface Treatments services to the Aerospace sector from a greenfield site from September 2015 to August 2017
The project required:
- The creation of a Business vision, setting strategic objectives and targets with respect to People, Quality and Cost through workshops with the business owners.
- Identifying ideal production flow paths and defining optimum lead times using Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Line balancing techniques.
- Procuring, installing and commissioning equipment for the core chemical treatments production processes, waste water treatment equipment including making application for waste water discharge licence.
- Designing, installing and equipping Laboratory for process and product control in compliance with product and process validation requirements.
- Designing, implementing and obtaining accreditation for Quality Management Systems in compliance with the Aerospace standards AS9100
- Designing, implementing and operating Environmental and H&S Management Systems in compliance ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
- Implementing Lean manufacturing using tools such as Standardised Work, Visual Aids and promoting 5S Housekeeping standards.
- Carrying out full site Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and putting controls in place to address unacceptable Risks.
- Carrying out Environmental Aspect and Impact assessment to manage, control and maintain environmental compliance from site
